Portraits
About half my portraits are taken in my studio. For others, I travel to the client’s home, place of work or other pre-arranged location….mainly environmental portraiture…..people in their own space, their own place.
For me, portraiture came as an extension of my theatrical production and press work, which began in the late 1980s, soon developing into a passion that has never left me. My influences are Richard Avedon, Arnold Newman and Snowdon. I remember spending some time with and watching Snowdon working in the 1990s. I learned so much from that experience.
I make portraits for actors, writers, high court judges, designers, film-makers, industrialists, musicians, teachers, artists, company directors, farmers, chiropodists, taxi drivers, publicans, florists, government officers, plumbers, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, couples…….
